The project is a 50-megawatt (MW) solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Nilphamari district, Bangladesh. The project will be developed by Scatec through a SPV named Bangla Sun Solar Energy Limited (BSSE). The proposed project will be located in the village of Baish Pukur, part of the Khalisa Chapani Union Parishad; Upazila (Sub-district) Dimla; District Nilphamari; Rangpur Division of North Bangladesh. The site can be approached through Jaldhaka-Dalia road from the district headquarter Nilphamari.
The solar-powered photovoltaic panels convert the sun’s rays into electricity by exciting electrons in silicon cells using the photon of lights from the sun. The power generated from the plant will be supplied to the nearby Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) Jaldhaka Grid Sub-station (GSS), located at a distance of about 15.2 km from the site. A 132 kV transmission line will be developed to supply power to the Jaldhaka substation of PGCB.
The project has received approval from the Government of Bangladesh for setting up of 50 MW solar power project in Nilphamari District. The site selected for the project located near the in Khalisa Chapani union.
